A truly striking and exceptionally rare 1980s Italian dining set, consisting of a sculptural geometric dining table and four matching armchairs.
The set perfectly captures the bold and experimental character of Italian Postmodern design of the 1980s, combining strong geometric architecture, contrasting black and red elements, glossy surfaces and transparent acrylic/plexiglass.
The table features a highly distinctive octagonal-inspired square top with clipped corners, supported by a substantial central pedestal. Its dramatic black finish is highlighted by multiple exposed red and black laminated layers along the edges and central column, creating a graphic striped effect that gives the piece an almost architectural appearance.
The four matching armchairs continue the same visual language. They are constructed from thick, high-quality transparent plexiglass, with beautifully shaped continuous side/arm elements and slim transparent supports. The vivid red upholstered seat and backrest provide a powerful contrast against the clear acrylic structure and black/red table.
Together, the table and chairs create an exceptionally cohesive ensemble. The transparency of the chairs visually lightens the substantial table, while the red upholstery echoes the red laminated detailing of the table.
Design

CONDITION
Very good vintage condition overall, with signs of age and use consistent with an authentic piece from the 1980s.
The transparent plexiglass shows some minor surface marks and signs of age visible upon close inspection. The red upholstery also shows normal vintage wear. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
Structurally, the chairs and table have a substantial and impressive quality, and the set presents beautifully as a complete ensemble.
