A striking set of four original Eames DSS shell chairs, designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. Featuring their iconic sculptural silhouette and vibrant coral-orange fiberglass shells, these chairs represent one of the most influential designs of the mid-century modern era.
Introduced as part of the Eames molded fiberglass seating collection, the DSS chair combines the expressive form of the molded shell with a practical, stackable base. Its distinctive shape, carefully contoured seat, and elegant chrome-plated metal legs make it a timeless design classic that works beautifully in both residential and commercial interiors.
The real highlight of this set is the original red-orange fiberglass, with its characteristic visible glass-fiber texture, subtle variations, and beautiful depth of colour. Unlike later polypropylene versions, original fiberglass shells possess a distinctive material character and surface quality that vintage design enthusiasts particularly appreciate.
The rich coral-orange tone brings warmth, energy, and personality to an interior. Paired with the polished chrome frames, it creates a bold yet balanced combination of colour, industrial detailing, and organic form.
The chairs feature their original fiberglass shells and stackable bases, with the Herman Miller manufacturer’s emblem stamped underneath. Their authentic vintage patina adds to their individual character and reflects the material’s natural ageing process.
These versatile chairs are ideal around a dining table, in a creative studio, contemporary office, architectural interior, restaurant, café, or eclectic mid-century home. They also work beautifully as colourful accent chairs, adding a distinctive vintage statement to almost any space.
A rare opportunity to acquire a matching set of four original fiberglass Eames chairs in a particularly attractive coral-orange colourway.
