Iconic Maarten Van Severen LCP Transparent Plexiglass Lounge Chair for Kartell, Italy, 2000s
A striking example of contemporary minimalist design, this LCP lounge chair was designed by Belgian designer Maarten Van Severen for the Italian manufacturer Kartell in 2002.
Sculptural, elegant and almost invisible in its surroundings, the LCP (Low Chair Plastic) is an exceptional expression of Van Severen’s minimalist design philosophy.
Manufactured from a single piece of high-quality transparent acrylic (PMMA), the chair features a beautifully flowing, continuous silhouette. Its distinctive folded form creates an elegant interplay of light, transparency and reflections, while the flexible material gently adapts to the sitter.
The ingenious construction gives the chair its characteristic combination of visual lightness and structural presence. Despite its substantial form, it almost disappears into the room, making it particularly suitable for sophisticated contemporary and minimalist interiors.
A remarkable design piece by Maarten Van Severen, whose work is celebrated for its purity of form, material innovation and timeless simplicity.
