Rare original Eames DKX-2 Wire Chair by Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller, dating from the 1970s, presented with the highly sought-after original yellow Bikini upholstery.

Designed as part of the iconic Eames Wire Chair series, the DKX combines the characteristic organic Eames seat form with an industrial construction of welded and shaped steel wire. The elegant chrome-plated wire shell is paired with a simple four-leg tubular steel base, creating a remarkably light and sculptural appearance.

What makes these examples particularly special is the original yellow Bikini pads, which cover the seat and backrest. The vivid yellow upholstery creates a beautiful contrast with the chrome wire structure and is a highly distinctive feature of the design.

Design

The Eames Wire Chair represents one of the most recognizable developments in the Eames approach to furniture design: transforming an ergonomically shaped, organic seat form into a lightweight industrial wire construction.

The original yellow Bikini covers are in very good condition, with beautiful vintage character consistent with their age. The chrome-plated wire frame and base show minor signs of age and use.
