Mid-Century Acrylic Glass Lucite Makeup Mirror by Charles Hollis Jones, 1970s
This stunning and rare mid-century makeup mirror is a true statement piece, designed by the legendary Charles Hollis Jones in the 1970s. Crafted entirely from high-quality Lucite (acrylic glass), this mirror exemplifies the bold glamour and futuristic elegance of the era.
The large circular mirror—measuring an impressive 59 cm in diameter—is framed by a thick, faceted Lucite ring, subtly textured with a delicate wave pattern along the edge for a sophisticated touch. Four small brass fittings accentuate the frame, adding a warm contrast to the crystal-clear acrylic.
The base is a geometric marvel: two stacked rectangular Lucite blocks (34 x 12.5 cm) form a solid, sculptural foundation that reflects and refracts light beautifully. The clear, architectural lines echo the space-age design language Charles Hollis Jones is celebrated for.
