A rare and highly collectible example of the iconic AEO lounge chair, designed in the 1970s by Italian architect and designer Paolo Deganello as a member of the radical Italian design group Archizoom Associati and produced by Cassina in Italy.

The AEO is an important piece of Italian Radical Design and reflects Deganello’s distinctive approach to the idea of the modern armchair. Rather than following traditional upholstered furniture construction, the design combines a sculptural grey fiberglass/plastic base with a lightweight steel support structure and suspended textile upholstery.

This striking example features a grey canvas backrest and seat structure combined with a red leather seat cushion, creating a particularly characteristic 1970s Italian colour combination.

The chair is original and authentic from the 1970s, remaining in its original condition. The fiberglass/plastic base is in very good condition with no cracks or breaks. There are some signs of use, particularly on the armrests, consistent with its age and approximately 50 years of use. Overall, it remains in very good vintage condition.
