Mid century Daphine Floor/Table white Lamp by Tommaso Cimini for Lumina – Italy, 1980s
A true icon of Italian industrial design, this rare white Daphine floor/table lamp was designed by Tommaso Cimini and produced by Lumina in the 1980s. Originally conceived in 1975 in a small workshop in Sedriano, near Milan, the Daphine lamp embodies Cimini’s design philosophy: “a lot of light, a little lamp.”
The lamp features:
• A pivoting diffuser for precise light direction
• An articulated arm with two segments for flexible positioning
• An electromechanical transformer elegantly housed in a cylindrical base between two minimalist metal caps
• A solid cast iron base that ensures excellent stability in black colour
Its minimal yet functional design allows for multiple configurations, making it ideal for desks, reading corners, or studio environments. The Daphine’s head and dual-arm mechanism allow full adjustability, offering maximum visual comfort with targeted illumination.
Celebrated in design institutions such as the Brooklyn Museum, Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and the Neue Sammlung in Munich, the Daphine has cemented its place in design history as a timeless classic.
