Mid-Century LC1 Armchair
by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret & Charlotte Perriand
Manufactured by Cassina, Italy — 1970s

A true design icon. This LC1 armchair—originally designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand and produced by Cassina in Italy—is one of the most recognizable pieces of 20th-century modern furniture.

This 1970s edition features black genuine leather upholstery paired with a silver chrome steel frame, giving it a clean, architectural look. Its light, compact structure and practical pivoting armrests make it both functional and beautifully minimalist.

⭐ Design History

First presented at the 1929 Salon d’Automne, the LC1 was exhibited alongside the LC2, LC3, LC4 chaise longue, and LC6 table. Like all of Le Corbusier’s works, the chair is the result of a deep study of human posture.
It was designed to encourage relaxation and conversation, balancing form and function through the principles of the Modulor, a system based on the harmonious proportions of the human body.

This piece remains one of the most influential and collectible designs of the modernist era.
