Postmodern Cross-Cantilever Bar Stool by Till Behrens, Germany 1980s – Freiflügel Steel Cantilever Stool with fabric red Seat
An exceptional postmodern cross-cantilever bar stool designed by Prof. Till Behrens, Germany, 1980s. This original design classic represents the evolution of the renowned “Freiflügel” (free-wing) cantilever concept, celebrated for its elegant engineering and dynamic seating comfort.
The stool is constructed entirely from precisely welded steel rods with a refined matte silver finish, creating a visually light yet structurally strong frame. The distinctive cross-cantilever construction allows the stool to respond to body movement, producing a gentle rocking motion that naturally adapts to the sitter.
This example features a fabric seat, accompanied by the red fabric cushion, which is included and remains in very clean and well-preserved condition. The stool retains its original manufacturer plaque and identification number, located beneath the front struts, confirming its authenticity.
A rare and elegant piece of German postmodern design, ideal for collectors or as a sculptural statement piece for a kitchen island, bar area, or modern interior.
