A rare and highly desirable Charles Eames La Fonda armchair for Herman Miller, dating to the early 1960s, featuring a beautifully sculpted upholstered shell in black leather and an elegant four-star swivel base.

Originally designed by Charles Eames in 1961 for the iconic La Fonda del Sol restaurant in New York, the La Fonda chair is one of Eames’ most distinctive upholstered shell designs. Its organically curved form was created to provide an enveloping and comfortable seating experience while maintaining the clean, sculptural character associated with Eames furniture.

This example features a fully upholstered black leather shell, including the seat, back, outer shell and underside. The rich black leather contrasts beautifully with the polished metal base and emphasizes the chair’s sophisticated Mid-Century Modern character.
