Mid-Century Safari Armchair by Maurice Burke for Arkana – 1970s British Design in Red Leather, Beech & Chrome

A striking piece of British modernist design, this Safari Armchair was created by Maurice Burke for Arkana in the 1970s in Scotland. With its clean lines and functional elegance, the chair is a perfect example of timeless mid-century style — puristic, bold, and effortlessly chic.

This version features a lacquered black beech wood frame, contrasting chrome supports, and a beautifully preserved red leather upholstery on the seat, backrest, and armrests. The chrome accents give the piece a subtle industrial touch, adding to its distinctive aesthetic.

In good vintage condition, this chair shows minor signs of use consistent with its age but no damage or structural issues. It’s stamped on the back of the seat with the original Arkana manufacturer’s code and regulations number, confirming its authenticity.
