An iconic and rare vintage IKEA KROMVIK chrome bed, designed by Knut Hagberg and launched in 1982, presented here with its original integrated SULTAN sprung mattress.
This highly sought-after Bauhaus-inspired design represents one of IKEA’s most iconic modernist pieces of the 1980s. The sculptural chrome frame and floating mattress construction clearly reference Bruno Mathsson’s 1974 “Ulla” bed, blending Swedish modernism with functional elegance.
This is the smaller and rarer version, designed for an integrated small double mattress (120 cm). True to IKEA’s naming tradition—where all beds are named after Norwegian places—the name KROMVIK perfectly complements the striking chrome bed ends. The model was featured prominently across a full spread in the 1982 IKEA catalogue.
