A rare and highly distinctive five-seat Axis 3000 beam bench, designed by renowned Italian designer Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli, Italy, dating from the 1970s.
The Axis 3000 is an important example of Italian contract and industrial design, created as a modular seating system for waiting areas, offices and other collective spaces. Its distinctive design language is closely associated with Piretti’s celebrated work for Anonima Castelli.
What makes this example particularly impressive is its extra-long Four-seat configuration, measuring approximately 220 cm in total width, creating a strong architectural presence while retaining the elegant and lightweight appearance characteristic of Piretti’s designs.
The bench combines a sturdy white-painted metal beam/base with polished chrome/aluminium side supports. Four individually shaped seats and backrests are upholstered in cognac-coloured faux leather, giving the piece a warm, sophisticated appearance while beautifully contrasting with the exposed metal structure.
The sculptural seat shells, long horizontal beam and polished metal elements create a distinctly Space Age / Italian Mid-Century Modern aesthetic. It works exceptionally well as original contract seating or as a statement piece in a contemporary interior, entrance hall, gallery, office, showroom, hotel, restaurant or sophisticated residential space.

Good vintage condition.
The bench is stable and structurally sound. The seats and backrests are upholstered in cognac faux leather, presenting beautifully with the natural signs of age and use expected from an authentic vintage piece.
