Set of 2 Mid-Century Safari Armchairs by Maurice Burke for Arkana – 1970s British Design in Red Leather, Beech & Chrome
This stunning pair of Safari armchairs was designed by Maurice Burke for the iconic British manufacturer Arkana during the 1970s in Scotland. With their clean structure, minimalist silhouette, and bold red tones, these chairs perfectly capture the spirit of mid-century British modernism — functional, puristic, and timeless.
Each chair features a lacquered red beech wood frame with chrome detailing, paired with beautifully preserved red leather upholstery on the seat, backrest, and armrests. The combination of warm wood and sleek metal gives the chairs a refined industrial edge, making them ideal for both vintage-inspired and contemporary interiors.
Both chairs are in good vintage condition, showing only minor signs of wear consistent with age. They are stamped on the back of the seat with Arkana’s original markings and regulatory code.
